Size 42 fit Maria's foot, snug in width, and probably a good length for a narrower foot. Maria's big toe curled slightly with the toe shape in size 42, so it felt a little tight. Size 43, on the other hand, was of course much more comfortable, with quite a lot of room at the toe, but the shoes could be made to fit with the laces and perhaps an extra insole.
